About Yayasan City U
Yayasan City U (YCU), established in 2023, is a philanthropic foundation dedicated to advancing education, expanding access to learning opportunities, supporting deserving students and contributing to the development of individuals and communities.
The Foundation believes that education is one of the most powerful instruments for social mobility, economic advancement and national development. Through scholarships, educational assistance, leadership development, community programmes, academic initiatives and strategic partnerships, YCU seeks to create sustainable opportunities for individuals to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
In 2026, Yayasan City U entered an important new phase of institutional development with LHDN approval under Subsection 44(6), a major RM1 million contribution from City University Malaysia, and a RM1 million contribution from Selia Group to support the Selia Chair in Leadership at City University Malaysia.

Our strategic mission
Five commitments that put the mission to work
To provide financial assistance to students, support teaching and learning programmes, provide research grants, develop social entrepreneurship programmes, and nurture responsible leaders.
Financial assistance to students
Scholarships, tuition assistance and hardship support for deserving and financially challenged students, so that cost is never the reason a capable student stops learning.
Support for teaching and learning
Backing new skill-based programmes, developed with City University and other universities and shaped by the needs of industry, so that graduates are ready for work.
Research grants
Funds raised from businesses, organisations and individuals to support research areas identified with City University and research institutions, including international collaboration.
Social entrepreneurship programmes
A curriculum built with experts, seed funding for student-run start-ups and networking with industry leaders, helping students turn ideas into ventures that create social value.
Leadership development
Programmes and endorsed chairs, such as the Selia Chair in Leadership at City University Malaysia, that develop ethical, capable and responsible leaders for the community.
